MADISON, Wis. -- The Western Collegiate Hockey Conference (WCHA) announced Wednesday that Bemidji State University women’s hockey goaltender Brittni Mowat (Fr., Glenboro, Manitoba) has been selected WCHA Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the Beavers’ series Nov. 8-9 against The Ohio State University.

Mowat collected 81 saves last weekend with a .953 save percentage and a 1.92 goals-against average while leading Bemidji State to a five-point road weekend at WCHA-rival Ohio State. She also blanked the Buckeyes on all nine power-play opportunities in the series. Mowat made 50 saves against OSU Saturday in a 2-2 overtime tie. She blanked the Buckeyes for the final 13:25 of the contest including the overtime period to get the Beavers an opportunity in the shootout, which they won. In the series opener Friday, Mowat earned her fourth victory of the season in a 3-2 BSU win over Ohio State, stopping 31 of 33 shots on goal. Mowat has appeared in all 12 of BSU's games this season, starting 11. She has a 2.32 goals-against average, a .920 save percentage and one shutout over 647:10 of action, the second most minutes between the pipes in the WCHA. She is 4-5-2.

The WCHA award marks the second time that Mowat has been selected for a conference honor this season. She earned WCHA Rookie of the Week for Oct. 2.
