Game 2 vs St Albert Slash (Team Pacific)
In game two of the Esso Cup, the Hawks would play against the St Albert Slash, winners of the Pacific title. The Hawks would unfortunately stumble a little out of the gate, while the Slash came out with high intensity. The Hawks would repeatedly find themselves on the defensive, while Halle would be tested often. It would be the Hawks that would capitalize first though, when Captain Mackenzie Hutchinson rifled a slap shot from the blue line that would find it's way through the maze of players in front on the net. The Slash would respond though, and knot the game up at one when a bad bounce off the end boards found its way onto the stick of a St Albert forward who just managed to chip it over Halle's pad. In the second the Hawks would find some footing, and get back to their game plan. They were still outshot in the frame, but narrowed the gap considerably. The Slash would be the lucky recipients of a misplayed puck, which found the back of the net, passed a sprawling Halle, to make it a 2-1 game. The Hawks battled hard and really pressed for that equalizing goal, but despite a few close calls, they would fall 2-1 to the Slash, giving the Hawks a 1-1 record at the Esso Cup. Halle played another brilliant game in net, making 47 saves in the process.
