Semi-final game vs Harfang du Triolet (Team Quebec)
In the Hawks' second last game of the season, they would play visitor to the Quebec squad who finished just ahead of them in the standings. The Hawks would stumble a little out of the gate, allowing a few shots on goal without managing many on the Quebec net in return. This led to two goals against the Hawks, one off of a screen through a defenseman, which Halle couldn't pick up in time. The second goal came off a rebound that just eluded both Halle and the Hawks defender. With an early two goal deficit, the Hawks could have just rolled over and resigned themselves to a loss. Instead, they showed great character and heart, as they completely turned the tables in the second frame. The Hawks came storming out of the gate, displaying a big jump in their step and forcing the Quebec team back into their own end. Just over four minutes in, Brooklyn Platt would find the back of the net, while on the power play. Drawing the assists on the play were Hannah Petrie and Mackenzie Hutchinson. This goal lifted the energy in the building and the chants of "Go Hawks, Go" rang throughout the buidling a number of times in the second. Despite all the cheering and barrage of shots, the Hawks could not find that elusive tying goal. After two periods of play, the Hawks were down by a score of 2-1. In the third, the Hawks completely emptied the tank as they did everything they could to even the score. Unfortunately, even with Halle pulled for the extra attacker late in the game, and a few icing attempts by Quebec, the Hawks just couldn't find a way to solve the Harfang goalie for a second time. The Hawks would settle for a 2-1 defeat, and a chance to recompose themselves as they now prepare for a short turnaround and a 1:00 start Saturday afternoon, and a shot at a bronze medal. What a great team performance to end the game on, and the fans will be ready to come out and cheer in great numbers as they support their team for what will be their last game for the 2016-2017 season!
