May 27/17 - Team Windup and Awards Banquet

 

With the season over, and everyone having had a chance to breathe after a hectic lead-up to and including the Esso Cup week, the team decided to have their banquet on May 27th. The girls and their parents met at the Access Event Centre for one last celebration of one of the most successful seasons in Hawks' history.  A fourth place finish at the national championships was no small feat, and being the first host team in Esso Cup history to earn their way completely to the national stage, by winning their league, and beating their regional rival in the first game of the Esso Cup, was a cause for great celebration. The girls were each given a gift from Esso Cup Platinum sponsor, Sawatzky's Furniture, and Rick Hiebert, from Action Plus Photo, a cd with photos from Rick throughout the Esso Cup week. Thank you Brad and Norma Collins, and Rick Hiebert for your generosity. After supper, each girl was called up individually, as the coaches handed out the jerseys and a keepsake 8x10 individual photo. Following that, the coaches announced the winners of the various categories of awards.
